I wish I could tell you to just pick one and get started. But success in Internet Marketing isn't quite that easy.
In marketing there is a term called "Hungry Fish." When you go fishing, you won't catch anything if you are casting your line where the fish aren't hungry. They won't take your bait.
BUT if you can find a whole school of hungry fish who haven't eaten for awhile and dangle something in front of them that looks irresistibly tasty you most likely will catch several of them.
Marketing works the same way. Find something (a topic that you are good at) that people are looking for online (in the search engines) and having a hard time finding (not many people/companies are offering that kind of "bait") = Hungry Fish!
Finding Hungry Fish online takes a little bit of research. Go to http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
and enter your search term.
Let's say that you have determined that you are an expert at flower arranging. Got to the Inventory Overture website, enter the keyword phrase "flower arranging" and click the button.
You will get a list of ways that that search term was searched for in the past 30 days or so. This is what the list looks like for our search term:

That's quite the list!
Do a search like that for each of the search terms on your list. Copy and paste the results to a word processing document or a spreadsheet.
(Here are the instructions for Copying and Pasting using Windows: To copy and paste, highlight the text you want to copy by moving your mouse over it while holding down the right mouse button. When you have highlighted all of the text you want carefully release the mouse button so that you don't move the mouse then hit Ctrl + C on your keyboard. Open your word processing document, put the cursor where you want it to be on the page and then hit Ctrl + V on your keyboard. Leave a few lines of space between each topic that you paste into your document.)
You may not have very big results for all of your search terms. Some of them may even give you a message that says "no results found." That's okay! Just keep going until you have compiled the Keyword Search Results for each of your possible topics.
I'll be back soon with the rest of this lesson. For now just keep going . . .

- What you are good at
- What you enjoy doing
- What you are knowledgeable about
- What you are passionate about
Make a list of EVERYTHING you can think of that falls into those four categories. Brainstorm. Ask your family and friends for ideas. Write them all down.
Don't edit the list as you make it. Just write down everything that comes to your mind. You want the list to be as long as possible.
Write down everything from the crazy to the mundane--Everything from your spaghetti sauce recipe that everyone raves about to the way you can clean a bathroom in less than 10 minutes to your desire to see a certain political candidate elected to office.
Add to your list over the next couple of days. Then put it away and pull it back out over the weekend. Read through it and add any new ideas that come to mind.
Ready, Set, Build Your Business!

Oh, but wait, all those "Resolutions" ended last week, right?
How about a more sensible approach?
Every week I will post at least one Action Step on this blog. I will take you step-by-step through what it actually takes to build an Internet Marketing business. By the end of 2008, if you follow these steps, you should have an online business--an actual income producing revenue stream!
Hopefully you will make money from your efforts long before the end of 2008, but by the end of 2008 you should have a substantial amount of knowledge and, if you actually DO the steps, experience in the world of Internet Marketing.
Ready to make a dollar or two or MORE? Read Monday's post to get started!

Is that your first thought when it comes to blogging? Perhaps you didn't do well in composition class in school. Perhaps the thought of putting your thoughts on paper terrifies you. Perhaps you really believe that you have nothing to say.
Think of all you have accomplished, all you have experienced, all you have enjoyed, all you have learned. Is there really NOTHING in that vast catalog of life experiences?
You could just keep a blog about your day to day activities. If you are controversial enough, or helpful enough, or advertise effectively enough to the right market you could gain a following. If people actually read your blog they may click on the links in your blog and then they might purchase what you are selling. Blogging for dollars!
Now that's not scary, is it?
Here are some of my other blogs to give you some ideas:
Writing Your Life Story

Well, this show, The Next Internet Millionaire, is much better!
The Next Internet Millionaire focuses on content (the way any good Internet Marketer should) and it actually teaches as it entertains.
I won't include too much about the plot of the actual show for those of you who haven't yet seen it, but trust me when I say for an Internet Marketer this show is great!
